About Me:

I am a teacher and coach at Malden High School. I am currently teaching USI and Sociology and coaching Varsity Girls' Volleyball. My undergraduate degree in United States History is from Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. While there I was the Manager of the Women's Basketball Team and the Assistant to the Costume Director in the Theatre Department. I also played intramural sports and volunteered with Big Brother Big Sister. Immediately following my four years at Stonehill, I attended the Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars Program at Boston College, where I received my Masters Degree in Moderate Disabilities and Special Needs. In my free time I love to attend dance classes, coach basketball, and read non fiction novels (mostly historical). I also love to travel!

2.1:The 21st Century Classroom

Exactly how much are the times a-changin?

I found this visual representation of our ever-changing technological world to be very interesting. A few things actually surprised me For one, I would not have thought the number of published books would be as high as it was. I wonder if that is just the number published in print or if their is a different number for e-books? Regardles, as someone who values both fiction and non-fiction writing, I thought that this was a promising statistic among some of the more scary ones.

The number of Reality Shows is frightening! On the other hand, I cannot help but think of the benefits of some of the other statistics. Technology is getting more financially accesible as time goes on which I think helps support our 21st century hope for the world and education. I cannot help but think of the kids that sit in our classrooms that would not have had access to this world 5 years ago but experience digital and technoloigical advances on a daily basis. Whereas some people might be intimidated by the statistics found in this back story, I am excited and optimistic about the future of technology and plan to take Dylan's advice....I better start swimming...
